Our Story

Our Story

In 1999, three couples began meeting together to pray for something that did not yet exist—a contemporary, seeker-sensitive church in the heart of the north-of-Portland community. Two years later, in October 2001, White Pine Community Church held its first Sunday service at North Yarmouth Memorial School. Then, as now, a mix of pre-Christians, new Christians and seasoned Christians came together to express their love for God and to explore how the teachings of Jesus applied to their everyday lives.

We began meeting at Greely Middle School in 2007, and we acquired a between-Sundays ministry center in 2011. We now have a staff of seven pastors and ministry directors as well as six elders dedicated to serving the diverse mix of 300+ adults, youth and children who attend White Pine every week.

Many experience White Pine for the first time at one of our community Christmas and Easter services. We are also actively involved in community-enrichment endeavors such as local food pantries, the Preble Street Soup Kitchen and the Root Cellar in Portland.
